Slushy flies are the new egg patterns that the marauding trout seemed to be fixated on. An upgrade from the old egg pattern using a blend of synthetic fibres that seems to mimic freshly spawned roe which stimulates the fish into feeding on.
These patterns have become very popular especially in the winter seasons as trout make their way to spawn. These flies are usually bright in colour, pink, orange or similar and have a tungsten bead for weight to get down to the feeding trout. I tie these from #12 through to #16 although I can tie outside these sizes.
